Daily deals versus coupons - which one actually saves you more money?
Online coupons are discounts for top brands, items you use every day or free stuff. Daily deals, or flash deals, offer up-to-the-minute item pricing, availability, discounts, sales and freebies of the day. "Thus far, the fastest-growing online coupons have tended to be for deals on restaurants, spa treatments, and impulse type buys—fun stuff that consumers probably wouldn't have otherwise bought if a deal hadn't presented itself (and stuff they often regret purchasing, even at a discount). Trend-wise, it's looked like these flash "deals" would continue getting more expensive, out-of-reach, and impractical", according to the article The Latest Online Coupon Craze: Time.com, Wednesday, April 20, 2011.
Consumers may feel like they are saving money with these daily deals, and they probably are, but if you just spent money on something that you didn't need, are you really saving money?
