Facebook & Twitter: Breaking into the Ecommerce Space

Social media giants, Facebook and Twitter, are inching closer to becoming preferred social commerce platforms. Both companies are testing "Buy Now" buttons onsite with the goal of increasing user engagement while providing added value to advertisers.

A recent article from Mashable highlights Twitter and Facebook's high ambitions to make social commerce a reality. In mid-July, Twitter announced its acquisition of CardSpring, a payments infrastructure, and hopes to bring "in-the-moment commerce experiences" to users.

Facebook has also been working hard to earn its spot in the ecommerce space and facilitate payments onsite. The company has been collecting credit cards for quite some time through apps like Facebook gifts and games, but now, users have the ability to purchase items directly from an ad or page post.

Take a look at the article, "Why Facebook and Twitter are Embracing Ecommerce" to see how these companies plan to integrate ecommerce into their sites.
