The Numbers Prove It. Mobile-Friendly Sites Are a Must

According to Smart Insights, smartphone shipments have surpassed PC shipments globally. While the cost of PC and laptop devices has put them out of reach for many, smartphones are increasingly providing access to the online arena to those who would otherwise not have any. If your retail website isn’t mobile friendly, you are truly missing out.

An excellent indication of the changing online landscape are the first quarter numbers that have just come out of the UK. Internet Retailer reports that sales increased 7% from last year’s Q1, with mobile driving much of that. Mobile sales increased 35% this Q1 2015 from Q1 2014!

Site mobile friendliness is a must for businesses that want to compete. And if these numbers don’t convince you, than Google’s recent rollout out of their mobile-friendly algorithm (deemed ‘Mobilegeddon’ by some) certainly should. If you get a chance, take a look at “More Reasons Why Mobile Should Take Center Stage” from the National Retail Federation. They make a great case towards focusing on mobile commerce with some tips on how to make it happen.
